UltraBoard Heat Activated is a premium mounting substrate designed for framed art and photographic applications. It features super-smooth clay-coated paper liners coated on one side with a low-temperature heat-activated adhesive, ideal for heated roll laminators and mechanical or vacuum press applications. A higher-end board, it also features a heavier, more dense extruded polystyrene core to add rigidity to the application. Each piece comes with a non-stick cover sheet to protect the adhesive from hot storage environments.

How to Heat Apply Prints
APPLY BY HEATED ROLL LAMINATOR
Gather your print, Heat Activated board, and heat roll laminator. Ensure you have protective gloves and a clean, flat workspace ready for application.Â
- Laminator Set Up*: Heat roll laminator to approx. 280 to 290°F with feed rate of 1.5 – 3ft per minute.
- Align Print to Board: Position the print onto the heat-activated side of the foam board. Ensure it is centered and aligned to your desired placement.
- Feed Board into Laminator: Carefully insert the foam board with the attached print into the laminator, ensuring that the leading edge is straight and guiding it gently into the rollers. Do not force it through.
- Post-Application Care: Allow the laminated board to cool completely. Inspect for any bubbles or imperfections and, if necessary, use a roller to smooth the surface while it is still warm.
APPLY BY HEAT PRESS MACHINE
Gather your print, Heat Activated board, and heat press. Ensure you have protective gloves and a clean, flat workspace ready for application.Â
- Preheat the Heat Press*: Power on the heat press and set the temperature (approx. 160° to 170°F) and time (15-45 seconds). Allow the press to fully heat up.
- Position the Print: Place the print on the heat-activated surface of the substrate, ensuring proper alignment and centering. Apply cover sheet to protect your press.
- Press the Print: Close the heat press and apply consistent pressure. Once the timer goes off, carefully open the press, releasing pressure and heat.
- Cooling and Finishing: Allow the laminated board to cool slightly. Inspect the pressed board for any imperfections. If necessary, re-press for an additional few seconds.
* Settings may vary by application and equipment used. Samples are available to confirm manufacturer recommendations. Be sure to maintain a record of your effective heat application configurations.
